In “Beyond the Bark”, The Marine Mammal Center will cover a brief history of their work with rescue, rehabilitation, release, research, and education and then take a deeper dive into the stories of their common patients including sea lions, elephant seals, and harbor seals. Learn about the challenges marine mammals face, how the Center cares for them, and how you can get involved to protect them and our shared ocean environment while boating or otherwise!

Safe rigging saves money!!

The Charles Van Damme ferry is a treasured artifact with a local waterfront story spanning over 100 years.  She sailed across the Bay before the Richmond Bridge was built. Later she became 2 restaurants, a music venue and local hangout.

The Paddle wheel & smokestack are all that now remain. Michael will share some of her story and how the RBMA successfully saved the 100+ yr. old artifacts from demolition and created approved plans to build an exhibit in the park at Waldo Pt. Harbor, Sausalito, Ca. Help us share this treasured piece of local waterfront history to inspire generations to come.

This marine navigation seminar will review the latest and greatest in boating aps such as Navionics, Marine traffic, Storm radar, Compass, Windy, Barometer and Weather underground. Attendees should have them downloaded prior to the seminar for the best experience. Open to cover general boating questions towards the end.

Ben has operated in the capacity as Captain on vessels from 151 feet and down.  He is a lifelong boater on sail, power, fishing, passenger vessels and tugs, in addition to rescue, film work, training private and govt agencies ranging from CHP to fire fighters.  He is also a marine technician specializing in marine systems.  He owns a Jeanneau 52 which he maintains and operates with his wife and kids. 

In this basic introductory seminar we will discuss the causes and effects of corrosion, demystify “electrolysis”,  learn how to make basic tests aboard your own boat to prevent costly corrosion damage and how to reduce dock hazards in and around the water. A handy reference booklet and helpful links will be provided. 

For new and experienced sailors who want to start racing as skipper or crew.

Captain Lisa is a lifelong sailor. She has safely navigated from a childhood of sailing a Sunfish with her father and the family dog and a  beach catamaran on Delray Beach to cruising halfway around the world on four different sailboats.

For the past 12 years, she has been working in the marine industry helping people in all aspects of boating.  She holds a bachelor’s in economics, a 50-ton master's license, and is a certified instructor for the American Sailing Association.

Captain Lisa is the owner of SailTime San Francisco a membership-based sailing program. With SailTime, Lisa creates the perfect solution for new sailors to learn what they are looking for in their first boat.

Her passion for the marine industry involves helping people in achieving their goals to get out on the water safely and confidently. She is happiest on the water whether it is sailing, anchored out for a happy hour, or paddleboarding in her back yard.

For the past eight years, she and her husband have restored and now live aboard their 58-foot classic motor yacht on San Francisco Bay.
